Course Summary

In this three-day course, you will gain an understanding of the Agile Architect’s roles, responsibilities, and mindset, while also learning how to align architecture with business value and promote continuous flow in large systems-of-systems, supporting the overall execution of SAFe programs.

In the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ARCH Training, attendees learn to enable continuous value flow by aligning technical strategy with business goals, communicating that strategy to development teams, and applying Agile architecture practices.

Attendees can improve collaboration and alignment in a SAFe Lean-Agile enterprise when they become a SAFe Architect. The SAFe for Architects course prepares System, Solution, and Enterprise Architects to engage across the organization as influential leaders and change agents who collaboratively deliver architectural solutions.

Module 1: Agile Architecture and SAFe
• Identify attributes of Agile Architecture
• Explain the SAFe Architect’s role and associated responsibilities
• Demonstrate collaboration with other Enterprise roles

Module 2: DevOps and Release on Demand
• Promote a DevOps culture
• Demonstrate the flow of value through the CDP

Module 3: Architecture and Business Value
• Demonstrate how Strategic Themes, Portfolio Canvas, and Portfolio Vision influence architecture
• Use Value Streams to support the business
• Demonstrate how ARTs (Agile Release Trains) and Solution Trains deliver value
• Align architecture to Enterprise strategy
• Evolve the Solution Portfolio
• Contribute Enabler Epics to the Portfolio Kanban
• Coordinate across Value Streams
• Align Solution Vision with Strategic Themes and Solution Context
• Contribute to Solution Intent
• Manage quality with NFRs and the Lean QMS
• Contribute to roadmaps

Module 4: Program Increment (PI) Execution
• Prepare for PI Planning
• Contribute to PI Planning
• Contribute to Management Review and Problem-Solving

• Guide architecture and continuous delivery

Module 5: Leading during a Lean-Agile Transformation
• Demonstrate attributes of a Lean-Agile leader
• Demonstrate how to lead the transition to Agile architecture during a transformation
• Develop an action plan to support the organization’s transformation
