The course further explores the specific roles and competencies required of a program manager, including the establishment of a Portfolio and Program Governance board and office.Subsequent modules provide in-depth knowledge on the Program Management Performance Domain, Program Strategy Alignment, and Program Lifecycle Management, giving learners a full view of how to manage programs from inception to closure.

A significant emphasis is placed on Program Benefits Management, ensuring that participants understand how to align benefits with the program lifecycle, create benefit maps, and ensure the sustainability of benefits post-program delivery.The course also dives into the Program Governance Performance Domain, where learners gain insights into governance goals, structures, and roles, enhancing their ability to manage issues, audits, and quality within programs.

Additionally, the Program Stakeholder Management module equips learners with strategies for identifying and engaging stakeholders effectively, crucial for program success.

On this PgMP course you’ll learn:

Module 1: Strategic Programme Management
• Identifying opportunities and benefits that achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives through programme implementation.

Module 2: Programme Life Cycle
• Initiating: Defining the programme and constituent projects, and obtaining agreement from stakeholders.
• Planning: Defining programme scope and developing the program, including all constituent projects, and all activities that occur within the program.
• Executing: Performing work necessary to achieve the program’s objectives and deliver the program’s benefits.
• Controlling: Monitoring progress, updating programme plans as required, managing change and risk.
• Closing: Finalizing all programme activities, including all constituent projects, executing transition plan, archiving, obtaining approvals and reporting.

Module 3: Benefits Management
Defining, creating, maximising and sustaining the benefits provided by programs.

Module 4: Stakeholder Management
Capturing stakeholder needs and expectations, gaining and maintaining stakeholder support, and mitigating / channeling opposition.

Module 5: Governance
Establishing processes and procedures for maintaining proactive programme management oversight and decision-making support for applicable policies and practices throughout the entire programme management lifecycle.

To apply for the PgMP certification, you need to have either: • a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) • at least four years (6,000 hours) of project management experience (or PMP) • and seven years (10,500 hours) of program management experience within the last 15 years. OR • a four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) • at least four years (6,000 hours) of project management experience (or PMP) • and four years (6,000 hours) of program management experience within the last 15 years. If you have not gained enough experience in project and program management to meet these eligibility requirements, consider the PMI: Project Management Professional (PMP) course instead.

The PMI PgMP (Program Management Professional) four-hour exam consists of 170 multiple-choice questions.
